Delhi has been the seat of power for centuries.  Today, the old and the new city combine to present a harmonious whole offering to the traveler - elegant shops, broad avenues, sun-warmed elegant forts, mosques that were once stronghold of Mughal powers and the city's delightful vibrant bazaars.

Chandni Chowk is a market that bustles with activity all through the year. The area was laid out by Shahjahan's daughter, Jahanara. The water in a pool reflected the moonlight and then flowed into a channel through the avenue and hence the name Chandni Chowk. It is a crowded place and normally there is a maze of traffic that one has to negotiate almost every second.
